Prenda del alma

I fell in love with this song a long time ago, it reminds me of long forgotten summer vacations in France or late evenings at home when my mother wanted me and my brother to go to sleep, but my father kept us up with this wonderful song. It's horrible when you hear the traditional version of it, but Los Lobos turned the song al inside out and made it unique.

You should maybe listed to it and picture yourself drinking cheap bear at a Mexican bar along a national road where only locals (and trucker-drivers) stop by. It's a warm summer night and the green red blue and yellow bulb lights give the place this weird atmosphere of joy and loneliness and sadness at the same time. Tired of driving for hours you're absorbing the scene and meanwhile you hear "Prenda del alma" and understand this combination, this moment will never leave your mind and though enjoying, you become melancholic because when the song ends all the other elements that together with the song made up this warm feeling, seem to go their own way and leave you behind, alone with the song that is still playing in your head...
