Mary Poppins & Financial History

Busy reading "The Ascent of money" by Niall Ferguson. It is readable and in fact very interesting, the first book on the subject of financial history that I know of. Sometimes it goes into too much detail for a novice reader like me, but he always picks up the line and if you hold on to the story. For now good enough for me, also bought "Civilization. The West and the Rest" and if I finish these two books, maybe I'll pick up "The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers" by Paul Kennedy again :-) This last book is where my interest in these subjects was "sparked" but it is not for anyone to read just like that, but it is a great analysis and this in all dimensions: science, economics, military, ... (maybe doesn't make much mentions on social or cultural dimensions of these histories of civilizations).
